World Wellbeing Movement’s Sarah Cunningham to Explore the often Overlooked Link Between Employee Wellbeing and Organisational Security at ASIS Europe 2025

ASIS Europe 2025 is set to welcome Sarah Cunningham, Managing Director of the World Wellbeing Movement (WWM) and host of the Working on Wellbeing podcast series, to deliver an insightful session exploring how employee wellbeing is a critical yet often overlooked component of organisational security. Housed within the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Centre, the World Wellbeing Movement’s aim is to improve the quality of life of people across the world by putting wellbeing at the heart of decision-making in both business and public policy.

In today’s high-pressure world, security professionals increasingly recognise that safeguarding their workforce’s wellbeing is just as essential as protecting physical and cyber assets. Unlike traditional threats, wellbeing risks can’t be seen on security cameras or blocked by firewalls, but their impact can be just as damaging.

Employee stress, burnout, and mental fatigue can compromise decision-making, lead to lapses in judgement and human error, and create security vulnerabilities – posing silent but serious threats to workforce resilience and overall security strategy.

What to Expect from the Session

In this session, “Wellbeing at Work: The Evidence We Can’t Afford to Ignore,” Sarah will explore why investing in employee wellbeing is no longer just a concern for HR professionals, but a strategic imperative for security, finance, and executive leaders alike. She will demonstrate how prioritising employee wellbeing is crucial to enhancing organisational performance and resilience, drawing on cutting-edge academic research to show how improved work wellbeing can: help mitigate risks linked to human error; enhance decision-making; and boost productivity, financial performance and stock market value – ultimately fostering a high-performing security culture and a more resilient organisation.

Leveraging professional learnings and insights from a career spanning more than 20 years across both the corporate and academic worlds, Sarah brings a unique perspective that connects the dots between business realities and academic insights. In this talk, she will present the latest research, including the Work Wellbeing Playbook, for which she was one of several co-authors, along with cutting-edge insights from the World Wellbeing Movement’s academic partner, the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford. She will explore what it truly takes to implement a holistic workplace wellbeing strategy, distilling key insights that leaders across all business functions can leverage to drive positive change.

Attendees will gain valuable insights into:

  • What problem are we solving for exactly? Can we really measure wellbeing?
  • Why should we invest in employee wellbeing? Why should it be a business imperative for Chief Executive Officers, Chief Finance Officers, and Chief Security Officers alike?
  • How do we actually improve employee wellbeing?
