Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

  • Water jugs and dispensers or local spring water in glass bottles instead of plastic bottles
  • Dishes and cutlery: no plastic, either china and metal or special entirely compostable dishes made of paper and sugar cane and collected in separate containers
  • Reduce printing: mobile app, digital signage
  • Printing the needed prints on recycled paper
  • ASIS Hub using sustainable/recyclable materials
  • Recommendation to exhibitors to avoid single use plastic and non-durable give-aways
  • Reusable lanyards (no one-event print)
  • No conference bag distributed
  • Waste sorting and recycling (by Prague Congress Centre)
  • Partnering with local charity NADĚJE and use of the community fridge of the Prague Congress Centre for distribution of left over food

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

  • Free public transportation tickets provided to event participants
  • Hotels at walking distance to ensure walking to venue is possible
  • Menus including as much as possible locally grown and seasonal ingredients and vegetarian options offered
  • Energy-saving measures (by Prague Congress Centre)
  • CO2 emission offset: proposition to donate to the local non-profit organization Sazime stromy (= “We Plant Trees”)

Responsible consumption and climate action 

While ASIS International as an organisation and ASIS Europe 2023 support several UN Sustainable Development Goals (see more here), a range of concrete initiatives were taken by ASIS in partnership with local suppliers to help contribute to 2 of them:

  • Menus including as much as possible locally grown and seasonal ingredients and vegetarian and vegan options (salads and desserts), serve less red meat
  • Include seasonal/local/fresh food clause in catering RFPs
  • Suggest sustainable transport solutions for event attendees (city bikes, e-bikes and city scooters)
  • Event venue uses green energy
  • Energy-saving measures (by WTC Rotterdam)
  • Suppliers and material: privilege local providers
  • CO2 emission offset: proposition to donate to the local non-profit initiative Cool Down City.
