Javier is a seasoned security professional whose career spans 28 years, marked by distinguished service and expertise in various high-stakes environments. Beginning as an officer in the Army Special Forces, Javier dedicated a decade to mastering military strategy and field operations, honing skills in leadership and tactical response. Transitioning to State Security, he spent the next ten years focused on countering terrorism and organized crime, contributing to national safety and security. His extensive field experience includes deployments in places as Afghanistan, Somalia, Lebanon and the Philippines, where he expertly navigated complex security challenges.
Javier holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Military Studies and Political Science, underpinning his practical experience with a solid academic foundation. In the last eight years, he has specialized in diplomatic security, safeguarding personnel and sensitive information in volatile regions. Currently, as Deputy Head of the Field Security Division at the Crisis Response Centre of the European External Action Service, Javier continues to be instrumental in shaping security strategies on an international scale.
