Supervisory Special Agent, Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Department of State
Jason W. Banks is a seasoned security professional and Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). Currently serving as the Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, Ireland, Jason oversees comprehensive security operations, acts as the senior law enforcement advisor to the U.S. Ambassador, and serves as the Co-Chair of the OSAC Ireland Country Chapter, fostering collaboration between the U.S. private sector and law enforcement communities.
Jason’s distinguished career includes 29 years of federal government service, beginning with his time as a U.S. Marine during Operation Iraqi Freedom and continuing with his appointment to the Diplomatic Security Service in 2004. He has held a variety of high-impact roles in challenging environments, including his tenure as Agent-in-Charge of U.S. Mission Iraq’s Logistics Office. In this role, Jason was responsible for the stewardship of over 10,000 security assets and directed a $175 million security program, earning him the U.S. Department of State Superior Honor Award for exceptional leadership and innovation.
His diverse assignments have taken him across the globe, with postings at U.S. Embassies in Brazil, and Pakistan, as well as in the United States at the Resident Agent Office in Dallas, Texas, and the San Francisco Field Office. Domestically, he has also served as an Assistant Shift Leader on the protective detail for former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jason is a devoted husband and father to four amazing children. He credits his family with being a constant source of strength and inspiration throughout his career.
