Erik has more than twenty-five years of experience in the corporate security & crisis profession both in senior positions in a global security organization and as an independent advisor & trainer. This includes more than twenty years of experience conducting CPP, PSP, PCI, or APP certification courses. He coaches security managers and security management teams as a strictly independent consultant.

Since founding his own company in 2011 he has been advising security teams and preparing board level crisis teams – varying from multinationals to SME’s & from industrial to business service organisations – to practice crises response through challenging scenario-based exercises. The proven concept of DutchRisk crisis trainings is to confront crisis teams with actual scenarios that challenge them to respond, in particular outside of their comfort zone. Crisis exercises are now increasingly combining scenarios around activism with cyber-attackelements and reputation challenges. Realistic, just as contemporary crisis present themselves.

Erik started his career as an officer in the Royal Dutch Army and served in several logistic, instructing, and public affairs positions. He left the Army in 1994 as Captain. Following that, he spent three years as project manager in Indonesia before discovering the security & crisis profession. Erik’s previous involvement as volunteer leader in ASIS International ranges from chairman of the ASIS Benelux chapter, RVP Region 9A, SRVP Europe, Vice-chair Crisis Management & Business Community to Chairman of the ASIS European Regional Board of Directors.
