Chief Security Officer, Central Judicial Collection Agency, Ministry Of Justice And Security
Since 1996 Berndt Rif worked as Head of Security (Academic Medical Center Amsterdam), Security Coordinator (ING Group) and Senior Security Advisor (General Intelligence and Security Agency). Between 2007 - 2018 he worked at the Dutch Central Bank and was involved in the New Era of Security Project (NEOS). The process-based approach to security, that was developed at that time, has been presented by him to security practitioners and security students worldwide during conferences and workshops. After leaving the Dutch Central Bank, he was the Chief Security Officer Concern (Security Authority) and Security Accreditation Authority Concern at the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Sport since 2019 for four years.
During the corona crises, he was responsible for the safety of the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport. During that period he led a relatively small young team of security professionals, whom he supervised and coached intensively. Within the ministry, Berndt Rif has started a permanent collaboration with the Hague University of Applied Sciences, the INHolland University of Applied Sciences and the Saxion University of Applied Sciences for placing trainees, offering graduation places and giving assignments to security laboratories.
Starting October 2022, Berndt Rif has been working at the Council for the Judiciary as National Security Authority Judiciary (National Chief Security Officer). In that role, he is involved in the security of 11 courts, 4 courts of appeal, 2 high-risk courts and services that work for the judiciary. Where possible, he transfers the knowledge he previously acquired about the process-based approach to security to his colleagues. In addition, he gives everyone the space to develop themselves and to give substance to security concepts in their own way, while continuing to monitor the big picture as a connecting factor. In his role, he is also still involved in educational initiatives. Where possible, he creates internship assignments for students and supervises projects in practice. At the
moment he is also a member of the Professional Field Committee of the Safety and Security Management program of the Hogeschool Holland and he is a permanent (guest)
lecturer of the Risk Management Summer Course of the TU Delft. He is also involved in the development of a Post HBO Threat Assessment Course.
May 1st 2024 Berndt Rif started as Chief Security Officer at the Central Judicial Collection Agency (Ministry of Justice and Security). He is also working, since more then 25 years,
for the National Police. Since 2021 he holds the rank of reserve captain.
