Opening Keynote

Ed McLaughlin

Opening Keynote
President and Chief Technology Officer, Mastercard
Ed will discuss Mastercard’s strategy to lead through technology, look ahead at technology trends, like AI, and what they will mean for global businesses, and explore how people and technology will work together in tomorrow’s organisations.

At Mastercard Ed is a member of the company’s management committee. He oversees the company’s technology functions, including the payments network, enterprise platforms, technology infrastructure and operations, information security and global technology hubs.

Prior to his appointment in 2016, he served as chief information officer, directing the development of Mastercard products and services. In 2010, Ed was named chief emerging payments officer, leading the development and launch of the company’s digital strategy, partnerships and platforms, and served as chief franchise officer between 2008 and 2010, where he was responsible for the Mastercard global rules, licensing, brand standards and compliance programs. Ed joined Mastercard in 2005.

Prior to joining Mastercard, Ed was group vice president, products and strategy at Metavante (now FIS) which he joined in 2002 through acquisition of Paytrust, an online payments company of which he was co-founder and CEO. Prior to co-founding Paytrust, Ed was the executive vice president of product and marketing at LogicWorks, Inc., a start-up data modeling software company that had its IPO on the NASDAQ in 1996.

Ed is on the Board of Directors for both Xerox and Vocalink Ltd, UK, and a member of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Council on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence. He was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame in 2024 and awarded Forbes CIO Next Award in 2023. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.

Sam is an experienced security leader with 15+ years in the industry. From security consulting to in-house roles at major global companies in the tech & entertainment sector, Sam has built up a wealth of knowledge in security operations & strategy, risk management, travel security and crisis management. A large part of her career has focused on the Middle East and Africa and she has extensive experience having worked, lived and travelled across the region.

Sam is Director, Enterprise Security EMEA for Netflix, based in Amsterdam, overseeing all aspects of the corporate security program for employees, facilities and assets. She has a BA in French, Spanish & Portuguese from the University of Nottingham and a MA in International Relations from Queen Mary, University of London.

Florian Haacke, M.Sc

CSO and Head of Group Security, Porsche AG
Florian Haacke, MSc, CFE, CSMPA, has been the CSO and Head of Group Security at Porsche AG since 2020.
Prior to his engagement with Porsche AG, he acted as CSO of RWE AG, innogy SE and METRO AG. He is a reserve officer with the rank Lt. Colonel in the Cyber and Information Domain Service of the German Army and prior to that, he was deployed in the Special Operations Division. Florian Haacke was invited to the Security Policy Course for Senior Officials at the Federal Academy for Security Policy in 2016. He has provided lectures on strategic steering for corporate security organizations at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the European Business School. Florian Haacke is a member of the Board of the Alliance for Security in the Industry (ASW) and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Bundeswehr University Munich for the accompanying research projects into IT-Security in critical infrastructures. In addition, he is member of the CSO Roundtable of ASIS International, the International Security Management Association, the European Institute of Corporate Security Management and others.

Florian Haacke published the bestseller “Risiko Blackout - Krisenvorsorge für Wirtschaft, Behörden und Kommunen”, released in 2023 and since 2007, he has been the publisher of the online security portal www.sicherheitsmelder.de of the Richard-Boorberg-Publishing Company. Florian Haacke has won multiple security awards such as the Cybersecurity Leader Award, the Outstanding Security Performance Award, the CSO50 Award, the Security Innovation Award and was recognized as one of The Most Influential People in Security. In 2024, he was announced as a Top40 Global Thought Leader in Security and Safety. He holds a master´s degree from the University of Leicester, where he studied Security and Risk Management.

Michael H. Lashlee

Chief Security Officer, Mastercard
Michael Lashlee is the chief security officer for Mastercard, leading a global team that ensures the safety and security of the company's network and internal and external products and services. He is responsible for corporate security, security threat and response management, security architecture and engineering, cryptographic key management, business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency management. Michael is
a member of the company’s Management Committee.

Michael joined Mastercard in 2016 after a 25-year career with the U.S. Secret Service. He was a special agent and supervisor on the protective details for former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama and was the supervisor for the Counter Assault Team, providing dynamic tactical support for the president. His last two postings were as special agent in charge of the Forensic Services Division and the Technical Security Division, with responsibility for all technical protective countermeasures at the White House and other Secret Service protected facilities.
Michael has worked and traveled in more than 100 countries and was posted as the attaché to the U.S. Embassy in Paris, overseeing Secret Service protective operations, financial fraud and cybercrimes investigations in Western Europe, Russia and parts of Africa. He has more than 28 years of federal investigative and law enforcement experience and is certified under the Senior Executive Service program by the Office of Personnel Management for the Department of Homeland Security.

Michael sits on the advisory board of the European Cyber Crime and Fraud Investigators, the board of directors for the Global Cyber Alliance and is a member of the Ransomware Task Force Steering Committee. He is also a past chair of the American Transaction Processors Coalition Cyber Council. He holds a graduate certificate in leadership from the Key Executive Leadership program at American University in Washington, D.C. and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University. Michael formerly served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve as a non-commissioned Officer.

Inge Huijbrechts

Inge Huijbrechts is Chief Sustainability and Security Officer for Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) – developing the Sustainability and Safety & Security programs in the group’s 1,100+hotels in operations & development in 110countries around the world.

Together with her team, she lays out the strategy for Responsible Business from build to operations and keeps employees around the world engaged in everyday Responsible Business actions. Additionally, she leads the global expert Safety & Security team to ensure all is done to welcome guests in safe and secure hotels:

In May 2020, RHG launched the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol, a program of in-depth cleanliness, disinfection, and prevention procedures developed in partnership with SGS. She developed unique value propositions such as Radisson Meetings worldwide being100% carbon neutral and put the company on a trajectory to be Net Zero by 2050.

In April2022, she was one of the key leaders involved in the definition and launch of the Hotel Sustainability Basics, an initiative to set a common, clear and transparent definition of hotel sustainability to drive responsible travel & tourism. The new standard is defined by the industry for the industry and is supported by the World Travel & Tourism Council and a group of leading hotels groups and associations representing over 50,000 hotels.

Inge is a member of the ASIS Chief Security Officer Center for Leadership and Development and chair of the US State Department’s OSAC Hotel & Lodging Sector Committee. She is a member of the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance Senior Advisory Board and sits on the GRI Club Sustainability Committee. Inge also serves on the board of Flanders Special Venues.

In 2022, Inge was named one of the100 Most powerful people in Global Hospitality and in the global Top 100 Women in Sustainability.

Gavin Henderson

ASIS Europe 2025 Conference Co-Chair and Vice President of Cybersecurity Innovation, Strategy & Outreach, Mastercard
Gavin has been part of Mastercard Security team since 2012 after 15 years with the Irish Military, with service in the Middle East and the Balkans. After spending six years as the Regional Chief Security Officer for Europe and Eurasia - in 2019, he took the role of CSO for the International Markets, during this transitional phase, Gavin spearheaded a successful regional convergence of a team of Information and physical security teams to support the protection of company employees and the Mastercard assets and doubled regional efforts around cybersecurity. In July of this year, Gavin assumed a new role within Mastercard, as Vice President for Cybersecurity Innovation – Strategy and Outreach, with a focus on supporting the internal and external cybersecurity teams and external Corporate Security Partnerships and engagements.

Gavin has also built-up strong partnerships with international law enforcement agencies such as Europol and INTERPOL, he currently holds a strategic cyber resiliency advisory board position for the European Central Bank - and has previously held a strategic advisory position on E.U resiliency efforts with Digital Europe and contributed to the publication of “Digital Front Line” 15 actions to boost Europe’s Digital Resilience – he has also served as Co-Chair of the Irish & Belgian OSAC Chapter over the last decade and has served as Co-Chair of ASIS Risk to Resilience European Conference since 2022.

Gavin holds an Executive MBA from the Ulster University School of International Business, a certification in cybersecurity for business leaders from the University of Oxford Saïd Business School, and a diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute, UK.

Deputy Chief Security Officer, Deutsche Telekom
Axel Petri (German qualified lawyer) is Deputy CSO at Deutsche Telekom Group whose operations cover fixed and mobile network infrastructure and cloud solutions for consumers, businesses and the public sector in more than 50 countries as well as security services. Deutsche Telekom is following a holistic and convergent groupwide security approach comprising all security domains.

Axel has been holding various executive functions throughout his career, most of them in security. He is At Large Director of the Global Board of Directors at ASIS International, Chairman of the Cyber Security Cluster Bonn and (co-)presiding over a couple of other high-ranking security committees in industry associations.

Axel is co-author of the „Rechts-Handbuch zum E-Commerce“ (Legal Compendium on E-Commerce) and author of further publications regarding Internet-/Media Law as well as Security. He has been visiting lecturer on Security Management at the University of Applied Sciences 'Rheinische' Cologne, and President of the Advisory Council at ASIS’s CSO Center for Leadership & Development.

Orhan Topcu

Orhan Topcu is an experienced professional in the security industry with a career spanning over 24 years. He began his career in the Ministry of Interior, where he held various government positions. Orhan's expertise lies in strategic analysis, risk assessments, ICT, disaster risk management, and security. Dr Catherine Fieschi

Strategic Advisor, Socio-Economic Affairs, The Healix Risk and Security Advisory Board
Catherine is a leading European politics expert and global analyst. Her main focus is on the rise of populist and authoritarian politics in advanced democracies and the destabilization that such politics bring to policy-planning and markets. She is a longstanding adviser to progressive political leaders and campaigns across the globe.

Currently a Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre of the European University in Florence, Europe’s foremost policy and research institute, she is also a Senior Advisor to Macro Advisory Partners (London). Catherine is the founder of Counterpoint, a UK-based think tank that provides governments and NGOs around the world with strategic insights on how to manage new forms of social and political risk. She served as its Executive Director until April 2023.

Previously, she served as director of the UK’s leading think tank Demos, and as Director of Research at the British Council. She is an adviser to the PEW Research Centre in Washington DC, and a member of Singapore’s Centre for Strategic Futures.

Widely published in academia and beyond, Catherine has a regular column in the Chatham House magazine, The World Today, is a former editorial board member of Prospect magazine, and is a regular political and social commentator (FT, The Guardian, Politico, BBC, CNN, etc). She is the author of several books including, most recently, Populocracy: The Tyranny of Authenticity and the Rise of Populism (2019).
A native speaker of French, Italian and English, Catherine holds a PhD in Comparative Politics from McGill University in Canada.

Justin Crump

Justin Crump is the Founder and CEO of Sibylline, which he established in 2010. Based in the UK, Justin leads the strategic direction of the company, drawing on his extensive background in intelligence and security. Justin’s leadership and industry expertise have formed Sibylline into the company into a trusted, expert, and professional partner to an ever-growing range of clients.

Justin’s career began as a front-office investment banker at JP Morgan Chase, but after 9/11, he transitioned to full time military service as a tank commander, with operations experience in Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Bosnia. He also served as Aide-de-Camp to the 6th Duke of Westminster during his tenure as Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff. His private security experience include time as the Head of Intelligence at Stirling Assynt and as a Security Intelligence Analyst with UniCredit.

Justin holds degrees from the University of Durham and King’s College London and is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the Joint Services Command and Staff College at Shrivenham. He served as President of the Association of International Risk Intelligence Professionals (AIRIP) from 2021-22 and continues to serve as a Board member. His book, ‘Corporate Security Intelligence and Strategic Decision-making’, published in 2015, is an Amazon Management Science bestseller.

Justin is also a prominent defence and security commentator for the BBC and frequently appears on Sky News, Deutsche Welle, and various global print media, including as a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph where Justin continues to highlight his own skills in intelligence analysis. He also regularly leads our high-level presentations to boards of the world’s largest organisations and is a prominent public speaker, drawing on his long background in intelligence, leadership, and global affairs.

In addition to running Sibylline, Justin is a passionate aviator, flying a YAK-52, Scottish Aviation Bulldog, and a DA-42 Twinstar.

Berndt Rif

Chief Security Officer, Central Judicial Collection Agency, Ministry Of Justice And Security
Since 1996 Berndt Rif worked as Head of Security (Academic Medical Center Amsterdam), Security Coordinator (ING Group) and Senior Security Advisor (General Intelligence and Security Agency). Between 2007 - 2018 he worked at the Dutch Central Bank and was involved in the New Era of Security Project (NEOS). The process-based approach to security, that was developed at that time, has been presented by him to security practitioners and security students worldwide during conferences and workshops. After leaving the Dutch Central Bank, he was the Chief Security Officer Concern (Security Authority) and Security Accreditation Authority Concern at the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Sport since 2019 for four years.
During the corona crises, he was responsible for the safety of the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport. During that period he led a relatively small young team of security professionals, whom he supervised and coached intensively. Within the ministry, Berndt Rif has started a permanent collaboration with the Hague University of Applied Sciences, the INHolland University of Applied Sciences and the Saxion University of Applied Sciences for placing trainees, offering graduation places and giving assignments to security laboratories.

Starting October 2022, Berndt Rif has been working at the Council for the Judiciary as National Security Authority Judiciary (National Chief Security Officer). In that role, he is involved in the security of 11 courts, 4 courts of appeal, 2 high-risk courts and services that work for the judiciary. Where possible, he transfers the knowledge he previously acquired about the process-based approach to security to his colleagues. In addition, he gives everyone the space to develop themselves and to give substance to security concepts in their own way, while continuing to monitor the big picture as a connecting factor. In his role, he is also still involved in educational initiatives. Where possible, he creates internship assignments for students and supervises projects in practice. At the
moment he is also a member of the Professional Field Committee of the Safety and Security Management program of the Hogeschool Holland and he is a permanent (guest)
lecturer of the Risk Management Summer Course of the TU Delft. He is also involved in the development of a Post HBO Threat Assessment Course.
May 1st 2024 Berndt Rif started as Chief Security Officer at the Central Judicial Collection Agency (Ministry of Justice and Security). He is also working, since more then 25 years,
for the National Police. Since 2021 he holds the rank of reserve captain.

Markus Epner

Markus Epner is a seasoned crisis and security manager with more than 20 years of experience in major industry roles, including at Lufthansa and Boehringer Ingelheim. He studied Security & Crisis Management at the Police Administrative College in Schleswig-Holstein (Kiel) and began his career as one of the first officers in the Kommando Spezialkräfte, with deployments in the Bosnia and Kosovo wars.

During his time in aviation, he managed the evacuation of two flight crews from Mumbai during the terror attacks and later led the crisis response during the COVID-19 pandemic within the pharmaceutical industry.

Since 2022, he serves as Head of Academy at F24 AG, where he is responsible for designing and delivering advanced crisis-management training and simulation programmes.

Markus is known for bringing real-world crisis experience into corporate training: his leadership emphasises experiential learning, digital simulation and cultivating resilience across teams.

Farah Benis

Farah Benis is a recognised expert in sexual harassment prevention, having conducted and pubished the first research on workplace harassment in the security industry. She has worked with major organisations such as Transport for London, Centre for London, and Westminster Women’s Night Safety as well as multiple UK councils to develop practical, impactful strategies for creating safer environments. Farah’s hands-on approach to preventing harassment and promoting inclusive workplaces, combined with her experience presenting on these topics at government and corporate levels, positions her as an ideal speaker to address this critical issue.

Pawel Ciucias

Pawel Ciucias is uniquely equipped to bridge the gap between complex technical systems and user-friendly solutions. With over 15 years of experience in digital transformation and UX design, Ciucias specializes in guiding organizations from initial concepts to fully developed, tested, and deployed digital products and services. His human-focused and evidence-driven approach ensures that solutions are not only technically feasible but also centered around the real needs of users.

Ciucias' extensive experience includes working as a senior consultant at Atos Consulting, where he facilitated discovery workshops in user experience and design thinking disciplines. Notably, Ciucias led UX research and design for the Swiss Federal Police (Fedpol), where he transformed outdated systems into user-centric platforms.

Detwiler and Ciucias are currently consulting for a major international organization to enhance their industry-leading security risk management approach with an innovative, bespoke user-friendly digital platform.

Jason W. Banks is a seasoned security professional and Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). Currently serving as the Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, Ireland, Jason oversees comprehensive security operations, acts as the senior law enforcement advisor to the U.S. Ambassador, and serves as the Co-Chair of the OSAC Ireland Country Chapter, fostering collaboration between the U.S. private sector and law enforcement communities.

Jason’s distinguished career includes 29 years of federal government service, beginning with his time as a U.S. Marine during Operation Iraqi Freedom and continuing with his appointment to the Diplomatic Security Service in 2004. He has held a variety of high-impact roles in challenging environments, including his tenure as Agent-in-Charge of U.S. Mission Iraq’s Logistics Office. In this role, Jason was responsible for the stewardship of over 10,000 security assets and directed a $175 million security program, earning him the U.S. Department of State Superior Honor Award for exceptional leadership and innovation.

His diverse assignments have taken him across the globe, with postings at U.S. Embassies in Brazil, and Pakistan, as well as in the United States at the Resident Agent Office in Dallas, Texas, and the San Francisco Field Office. Domestically, he has also served as an Assistant Shift Leader on the protective detail for former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jason is a devoted husband and father to four amazing children. He credits his family with being a constant source of strength and inspiration throughout his career.

James Wood is Regional Security Director, Northern Europe, for International SOS. In this role, James provides strategic security advice, guidance and support to our clients throughout the region on security areas including Crisis and Incident Management, Intelligence, Travel Risk Management and Business Continuity. James has provided security and risk management services across the world for a wide spectrum of clients across sectors including finance, tech, infrastructure and government. He has led the design and delivery of innovative consulting solutions around the world and worked with clients headquartered in locations such as London, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Sydney, among numerous other locations. Prior to joining International SOS in 2011, he was a police officer in the UK, specialising in surveillance, intelligence and crime prevention.

Matt Ince is an Associate Director at Dragonfly, a geopolitical and security intelligence firm. Within this role, he guides strategic intelligence activities and is the managing editor of Strategic Outlook, Dragonfly’s flagship annual intelligence estimate on geostrategic risks. Matt is also an Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), the UK’s most recognised defence and security think tank. Prior to joining Dragonfly in January 2023, he spent almost a decade working within the UK's national security community, leading analysis on emerging global risks.

Jason Miles Dibley

Jason Dibley is the technical director of QCC Global Ltd, the largest global TSCM provider, serving large commercial and government entities with offices in the UK and Singapore. QCC also provides Physical Penetration Services, Digital Forensics, Accredited Training and produces specialist TSCM systems and products in use by government worldwide.

He has been active in countering espionage operations for the last 20 years and constantly evolves new procedures and solutions for emerging surveillance threats. Previously Jason spent 20 years as a covert surveillance engineer with New Scotland Yard working on many operations alongside numerous global security services and military units.

He is security cleared and is a founder member of the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Institute (TSCMi) and an advisory board member of the ERiI (Espionage Research Institute International) both bodies of excellence within the TSCM industry.

Juan has nearly 40 years of professional international experience in Business Intelligence, Corporate Security, Crisis Management, Risk Management, Organizational Resilience and Travel Security.
He has held senior positions on the three sides of the security industry triangle: services provider, client and consultant. During the 90s, he was the Security and Risk Manager for Southern and Eastern Europe of one of the largest global express freight groups forming part of the steering committee. More recently, in the last decade, he was successfully the General Manager of a large guarding company and afterwards, senior Security and Crisis Management International Consultant and senior Security and Crisis Management International Consultant of an Ibex35 multinational company with operations all over the world and over 30,000 employees. Later on, he was appointed CSO (Chief Security Officer) of a Spanish industrial company. Since 1997, he operates as Independent Strategic and Operational Business Consultant with hands on experience in more than 25 different countries. He got his MBA from IE in 1996, where he has also completed several management courses, and he is member of a small group of Spanish holders of the ASIS International CPP (Certified Professional Protection) certification. He is both ASIS Spain former Chairman (2013-2018) and Regional Vice President (2018-2022) of Region 9C of ASIS International, and has been Academic Director of this ASIS/IE Effective Management for Security Professionals Program since 2014. He was awarded with three service merit white ribbon medals from the Spanish Army , Civil Guard and National Police Corp.

With a dedicated team of Volunteers, he organises the WCoSP Spring Dance which has raised over £750,000 for good causes.
